This is Gimli;
He is a 10 month old German Shepherd x Pitbull mix with a giant head and feet too big for his legs.
Gimli is unlike a lot of dogs I’ve met in the way that I had to earn his trust and work hard to find out who he truly was.

I won’t lie, Gimli had some issues in the beginning and tested my patience and skills: We dealt with dog and noise reactivity, jumping, head/hind shyness, leash pulling, mouthiness, and many other set backs during his time with us, but we always pushed through and he always tried his best.

As the weeks progressed, his anxiety dissipated, and he began to trust me: he started slowing down and pulling less on walks; he let me rub his head and rub his ears; he learned so many new manners and tricks (smartest boy); and, best of all, he started showing his goofy lovable side that I didn’t even know existed.

It’s never easy to train or take care of any animal with behaviour issues, but with the right perseverance, patience and kindness, these animals can become better than you could have ever imagined. We don’t know what any animal has been through coming into a shelter and we can’t begin to imagine how they’re feeling.

Gimli is not for the weak of heart, but the exceptional progress we were able to make in just 3 short weeks (with him in an unfamiliar and stressful environment) shows his willingness to grow and learn.

I can’t even begin to imagine how much he’ll thrive with the right people and the right home that is ready to give him everything that he needs to succeed.

So, if you or anybody you know is in dire need of a goofy, loving, smart boy who needs some extra love and attention, please contact/visit Old MacDonald Kennels & Animal Services and ask about Gimli.
