This gentle giant first came into our care in January 2024 with another dog. He was adopted from us in May 2024 but sadly had to be returned at the beginning of April this year as his owner was no longer able to care for him. Marshal is now eager to find a new home to spend the rest of his life with!

He is a great companion who has become a happy, laidback gentleman in his middle age. Marshal is house-trained and knows his basic commands already. He is an easy passenger in the car as well. He loves spending time outside playing with his friends and enjoys squeaky toys, long walks and sniffing everything around.

Marshal is just a laidback boy with a giant heart full of love to give!

It was the dead of winter. The air was cutting and arctic and I had nowhere to go. I wandered into someone's yard hoping for help. There seemed to be hope but the situation was not ideal. They did their best. I was still outside in the elements. It was cold. Free roaming dogs were attacking me and I had no way of defence. I was exhausted and depleted. But by some miracle I arrived at this warm place. There was a bed, food, soft words and a caring touch. I felt safe.

I finally came out of my shell and left my despondent self behind. My spirit flourished into that wonderful affectionate dog that I am, just a typical lab at that who loves his snacks, snuggles and playtime. I enjoy my walks and am a real gentleman on the leash. And do I not look handsome in my shiny black coat? And that blue tie makes me look quite debonair, do you not think?

The day I was rescued I came in with another dog named Dutchess who is also still here. She is the love of my life. We have developed such a deep bond it will be difficult to part with her presence and friendship. The company of another dog in the household would therefore be ideal for me. It is important you bring your pet with you for introductions and compatibility. The only restriction is that I may not go to a home with cats or other small critters and I do prefer females to males, but is that not almost always the case with us male dogs!

Please do not turn your back on me because I am black. All dogs abound with the same love and devotion regardless of the color of our fur.

Since January I have remained invisible to the world. I feel lost in this ocean of canines all vying for attention. I am grateful my fellow mates are being adopted but so wish my turn would come.
